National Service Officers (NSO)

National Service Officers are DAV-employed personnel that are accredited representatives of the Department of Veterans Affairs (the VA). NSOs act as attorneys-in-fact for veterans and their families in the pursuit of compensation, pension and other benefits before the VA and other government entities. NSOs have a detailed knowledge of the law pertaining to veterans benefits and a sufficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. NSOs represent claimants in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for veterans benefits. Maryland NSOs falls under the jurisdiction of the Baltimore Regional Office located at 31 Hopkins Plaza, Baltimore, MD 21201.
