National Service Officers (NSO)

National Service Officers are DAV-employed personnel that are accredited representatives of the Department of Veterans Affairs. NSOs act as attorneys-in-fact for veterans and their families in the pursuit of compensation, pension and other benefits before the VA and other government entities. NSOs have a detailed knowledge of the law pertaining to veterans benefits and a sufficient understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. NSOs represent claimants in the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for veterans benefits. Maryland NSOs falls under the jurisdiction of the Baltimore Regional Office at 31 Hopkins Plaza, Baltimore, MD 21201.

17 March 2020 – ATTENTION VETERANS AWAITING AN APPEAL HEARING
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the VA has suspended all Regional Office Hearings and the BVA has suspended all in-person hearings until at least 01 May 2020. Appellants who were scheduled for a hearing in that time frame will be given priority when hearings resume. 

Appellants also have the option of choosing a Virtual Hearing that can take place from the appellants home via their computer or smartphone, with the Veterans Law Judge and the DAV Representative also logged into the call. To learn more about virtual hearings, click here.

As of this date, all Regional DAV Service Offices are closed to walk in traffic. Service Officers are available via email (addresses below) or by locating your nearest National Service Office.
